Ms. Emily Galea is a Registered Nurse and CEO of Medical Sphere. She is currently serving as the Project Manager for the National Muscle Disease Bio-databank (NMDB), collecting and storing samples from patients across Australia with genetic muscle disease for research purposes.  

With over ten years of nursing experience and a strong background in clinical and laboratory-based medical research, Emily holds a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Certificate of Acute Care, Master of Nursing Science, and certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has also received specialised training in sample and tissue handling, data management, and biobanking at the University of New South Wales. 

Emily’s interest in healthcare marketing began with her post-graduate thesis on improving patient outcomes for lumbar radiculopathy through effective communication between General Practitioners and Spine Surgeons. This led to the development of an online referral system for a public hospital spine surgeon, streamlining processes and enhancing patient care. In 2022, she founded Medical Sphere, driven by a passion for sharing healthcare stories and communicating complex medical information in a digital-first world. 

Recognising the importance of fundraising for healthcare initiatives, Emily is actively involved in the community to educate, raise awareness, and support research into rare diseases. She co-founded the Brain Ball Foundation in 2025, a registered charity with DGR 1 status, dedicated to raising awareness and funding for brain cancer research. Emily serves as a director of the organisation, continuing her commitment to philanthropy and healthcare advancement.
